I don't know why Aurorae follows the Plasma theme first. This is based on the other Reactionary themes which follow system colors but I might re-work it to stand alone (not follow system colors). The key colors are WindowBackground for the frame, View{Hover,Focus} for the highlights and Button{Hover,Focus} for the lowlights. Best you open decoration.svg in an editor and look at the tags from each element.
I'm curious however that it didn't work with Reactionary Plasma. Could you post a screenshot? Seems something needs fixing. - Dec 29 2018

You should (in theory) just need to update the Aurorae using the 'Get New Decorations' button.
If you want to install it manually, download the decoration https://www.opendesktop.org/p/1235540/ and extract it to ~/.local/share/aurorae/themes then open KRunner and run 'kwin_x11 --replace'. - Dec 29 2018

If you're using a Plasma theme that includes its own colorscheme then that will affect this decoration. Try switching your Plamsa theme to Reactionary or default (Breeze) to see if it helps. Could you post a screenshot for me to look at? - Dec 29 2018

That's the attention colour. Red/orange is common through most Plasma themes. I tried using it only on the borders but looked bad. Open to any other ideas. Same with the green progress colour. - Oct 11 2018

Just updated. You might wanna run 'kbuildsycoca5' to refresh the image cache. I've had that text curruption happen a number of times, no idea what causes it: 'kwin_x11 --replace' always fixed it. Slackware, nice ;) - Oct 07 2018
