Dear bennylava, nobodyentioned this because this is a setting in the config file very clearly explained in the above description of the theme. While I do think it's a fair argument to point out whether this should be default or not, getting upset over a config option that is written out in the documentation I find is not. Please open "theme.conf" with admin rights if the theme is already in place (read the documentation for possible paths, (usually /usr/share/ssdm/themes) and change "forceHideCompletePassword" to TRUE. Please also consider reading up on all the other config options as I spent a large amount of time making this theme highly customizable in how it behaves just the way you want it to. Thank you. Have a wonderful weekend, I hope you find Sugar Candy enjoyable after this! - Oct 14 2022

Hey k-alz, I suppose you hoped for one variable to change. But it's no magic really. Here's a quick and dirty way:
Open one of the folder icons for a given size in Inkscape. Select all elements. Go to Filters > Color > Color Shift...
Check the preview button and play with the two sliders. If you like what you see REMEMBER the values and click apply. Then save under ANY name, preferrably "folder-yourcolor" in that same directory where it came from. Do this for all the other sizes with the exact same values and save to the according directories with that same name. The work here comes from doing this over and over for all sizes and getting the values, naming consistent etc. Plasma lets you then chose any icon you want to from the properties context menu, including your new one. - Jul 03 2021

I believe to have read on the Gnome sites that GDM doesn't allow custom themes anymore. If I'm wrong on this and someone knows resources or documentation for GDM themes, I'd be very interested. - Jul 03 2021

Thank you for your kind words. I'm currently not really updating this. Gnome and KDE release new weird folders on a frequent basis...it's hard to keep up. If it's "just" colors you want, you can actually go into the theme, open one colors' icon with inkscape for example, change the color to your liking and save it with a name that your DE accepts :) Sorry if that's not exactly what you asked for, but I hope it might help! - Jul 03 2021

Hello Renetupi, I'm sorry you're having issues. What you describe sounds most likely like SDDM has no rights to access your avatar images. Please read the troubleshooting suggestions from the following link and double check:

Legit design and programming effort. Sci-Fi fans will totally appreciate it. This section is full with cloned content to make a quick penny. It is heart warming to see people seriously want to come up with new log-in screens. That alone deserves attention. Good job! - Dec 20 2020

Not stupid at all maetthew but I don't really have an answer to this. This is basically the original KDE clock with custom modifications. If there is a possibility you might search how to connect KDE calendar to nextcloud and then KDE might just pull everything in. I can't point you further than this though. Sorry. - Dec 20 2020

Thank you for the sweet words! If you don't mind please rate the theme at the top of the screen :) You can refer to the instructions above where I list all available configuration options. These variables should best be made in a file called theme.conf.user in the themes' directory. The variable you're looking for is ForceHideCompletePassword="false". Set this to true :) - Jul 30 2020

Also note that the KDE design group knows and observes the communities mods and occasionally implements/merges things into the original widgets. So I wouldn't really know if some of my custom options made it into the official widget. Let me know! - Jul 26 2020

Additional time formats and even custom formatting, the option to space out the date and time (great for panel use), custom offset settings, custom font size settings not to mention the date on the same line(!), hence "better inline" clock. Just to name a few. I encourage you to play around with all the custom options provided that are NOT included in the standard KDE clock and maybe get hooked ;) - Jul 26 2020

Hello Jean, you're being very unspecific. If you "installed" it it should simply be available as a "widget". This is a KDE5 Plasma desktop widget. Where are you looking for it? Most people will "add" this widget to a "panel". Or some even to the desktop by choosing "add widget" from the context menu. - Jul 13 2020

Sounds rather like a graphic driver issue to be honest. If it loads at some point, there's no good reason it should be the theme's fault. Please provide more info. Also consult you distros forums. Do you have any customizations regarding your distro's init and/or SDDM? Do other themes work on first boot? What distro is this? - Apr 13 2020

Hey nicosariego. You could write your own daemon, cron or script to change the user.theme.conf according to time. This would need to be set before SDDM starts though since it sounds you want something like "Good Evening!" when its late. You could write a custom made service for this, but the effort and time, depending on your skill, is questionable for the outcomes worth ;) Apparently SDDM does not provide any such function for theming. - Apr 12 2020

Also if you're up for some debugging to get this working (maybe for others as well): We need theme specific output, so one way could be to test the theme from CLI. From within your desktop session launch a terminal (probably Konsole in your case since its Kubuntu) and type the following:

sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/sugar-candy

Whatever the visual result may be, the terminal will now give you very theme-specific feedback regarding errors like missing packages for the tested theme. Please get back with any errors (EE) you might see there. - Apr 12 2020

As of eoan (19.10) the packages name has not changed at all. It took me two minutes to verify this on packages.ubuntu.com
What's the issue you're having? Please consult your distros (Ubuntu bionic) forums and ask for log locations of SDDM on Ubuntu. Maybe they can give you a hint on what's wrong. I'm no expert on Ubuntu but the package names are correct. You might try to also install libqt5quickcontrols2, maybe even check on libqt5quick5 and libqt5qml5
I would appreciate your feedback if you get it to work. Sorry to hear you got issues. - Apr 11 2020
