Yes....I know what you mean. In the section Overview Gnome Shell, right???
You can found it or changed the background using some transparent background picture; eg....thumbnail-frame.png image like on assets Arc image.
Alternative way...you can just put code color, Just make a change from background-image: url("overview-background.png"); to -->>
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.05);

Can you tell me, What a Desktop in your system?
If you use Gnome desktop, you must open "Gnome Tweak Tool/Tweaks" application. First Make sure in the extension "User Theme" on gnome tweaks, must be checklist. - May 26 2018

Maybe you can put "Drive" Image to the center of your bg sidebar but you need add default value "width" for your sidebar bg.
Well...if you not sure, If that idea (make it) problem for low-resolution-screens., You don't need change it...keep it your settings :)

In the screenshoot above, I use value 220px to make Arrow Left and Right on the headerbar to move to the right (come out from your bg sidebar) on your default setting. I thing you can put value beetwen 100-250px on your gtk.css setting :) - May 14 2018

Hey @paulxfce just my thought.....How if the Arrow Left/Right in Headerbar is come out from your sidebar background?
I thing it will be more look good.....I have idea if you wanna try make it (arrow) come out from sidebar background. On my test you need add this inside your gtk.css, Example :

.nautilus-window headerbar
{ padding-left: 44px; }

The value (44px) is for normal Arrow position without Manjaro Image on the top left....So you can change value more bigger than 44px to make Arrow come out from Sidebar Background.

Yes that is possible, You need changed command at "index.theme" file about metacity line, Just changed OSX-Flatisma to Adwaita in line "MetacityTheme" then you can copy paste folder Adwaita metacity inside OSX-Flatisma theme :) - Apr 16 2018
