Inside the gnome-shell.css file find the selector .popup-menu-boxpointer, .candidate-popup-boxpointer (near line 500) and just change the background-color property to `transparent`
This outline is just a trick to differentiate the popup-menu when it overlaps another object of the same color, as shadows look cutted since version 3.30. But I can understand not everybody loves this solution.

Hi! I imagine you installed it with the make command, if so you can change the login screen image to match the lock screen one that you selected on the background settings panel. It's everything explained here drasite.com/flat-remix-gnome You just need to ensure the lock screen image is a static image (not the ones that change with time), otherwise it will find an XML file instead of a real image and the theme will use the default one (or you can just ensure it is an image by setting the background image outside the background settings panel). If you have any doubt don't hesitate to contact me ;)

Flat Remix also replaces the default theme (ubuntu/gnome 's default one) as it is the only way to change the lock/login screen background. To change it on ubuntu use `sudo update-alternatives --config gdm3.css` and select the one you prefer, you will still be able to set Flat Remix GNOME theme for your session, and won't affect other themes, but won't be applied to the lock/login screen. If you aren't using ubuntu just reinstall gnome-shell, it will override all the changes.

Great!!! Thanks for reporting it. Maybe the Double Commander you installed from the store was a snap version. I had also some issues with flatpak applications, that didn't use the theme if it was using a symlink. Weird issue, but luckily easy to fix :) - Sep 17 2019

Sorry, the theme doesn't work for that old gtk versions. There was a huge change in gtk styling (I think in 3.22) that made themes incompatible with older versions. But you can upgrade to ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Then it would work perfectly. - Aug 21 2019
