KDE 3.x Window Decorations by Maxilys 39 comments

Sorry, me again ;-)

I don't want to complain on every little stuff, but I really like this deco.

I see that you are applying a gradient to the window frame. I can select a color for the lower part of the window frame in the Color applet of the Control Center. However I haven't found out how to set the upper part of the gradient. I would like to set it to a dark color also.

My problem is that I am using a pretty light window background color and at the upper part it's hart to determine, where the window ends, when it is displayed over another window. Therefore I would like to get a dark window frame around the whole window.

Maybe it's already configurable and I just wasn't able to find it yet. If not an option to disable the frame gradient would be great, but I also would be very happy, if you could give me a pointer to the source code, where I can change the gradient color, if it's hard coded. - Mar 24 2005

Yeah, you're right. I also don't understand this option. Why shall a maximized window be movable and resizable at all?

Anyway, great that you've fixed it. - Mar 24 2005

Already tried this. It doesn't matter how big the titlebar is, the buttons are always at the very top, when the window is maximised.

Also, when the window is not maximised, but I have the same titlebar size, everything is OK. - Mar 18 2005

Is that a konsole window on your background? It looks like the 3.3.x konsole since there is just a thin line below it but the logout screen looks like 3.4 and the 3.4 konsole has a bug: There is always the frame of the tab widget around the konsole. - Mar 01 2005

Amarok 1.2.2???

I only can find 1.2.1 on the official servers. Is this an inofficial release or just an error in the package versioning.

In the later case it might cause problems when upgrading. - Feb 28 2005

I think it would be much nicer to display the referenced website in the lower right pane like Thunderbird is doing it.

A lot of feeds do not provide a summary and then you have to open a tab each time.

At least it would be great if this would be an optional setting. - Feb 18 2005

I am not talking wheather I like it or not. I will not use it on my business laptop.

What I am talking about is that you are violating a license and you've checked the little box that you assure that you do not do that, when you uploaded this splashscreen.

Please keep KDE-Look free of Copyright violations. - Nov 30 2004

What I found to be the biggest problem is the system tray, when using other window managers. Does the KDE System Tray work or are the icons also placed in separate window, if you do not use the fluxbox replacement for the system tray?

Personally I would like to use e, but the system tray prevents me from doing that :-( - Nov 18 2004

The problem is not that you will be sued. The danger is that KDE-Look.org may get sued, if there are too much copyright violations on this site.

Baghira

if the prefix points to a secondary KDE-Directory. I have KDE installed to /opt/kde3.3.1 (with a symlink to /opt/kde) and install all apps and add-ons to /opt/kdeapps. My KDEDIRS environment variable is set to "/opt/kdeapps:/opt/kde". I have no problems with this setup and it preserves me from compiling every app again, when a new KDE version comes out.

However there is a problem with compiling baghira. If I do a

/configure --prefix=/opt/kdeapps --disable-debug --with-extra-libs=/opt/kde/lib --with-extra-include=/opt/kde/include

and run a make afterwards I get this error:

make[3]: Entering directory `/home/cschlipf/tmp/themes/baghira-0.5h/deco'
make[3]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/lib/libkdecorations.la', needed by `kwin3_baghira.la'. Stop.

It works however, when I set the prefix to /opt/kde. - Oct 14 2004
