I just added a file for Gnome users. Sounds are the same. I needed to create 2 more sounds for Gaim and common desktop.
How to install is in the archive.

I re-compressed the Gnome archive to a tar.gz

Just Brilliant I love it! ty
How do I apply these sounds under Ubuntu? Or are they KDE-only?
As I was reading some of these comments, I couldn't help but wonder how good these sounds really are. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the high praise is well deserved. And given the demand for some post-upstream customization to Kubuntu's default install, I hope you're bugging Jonathan Riddell non-stop to get this masterpiece included in a future release. :D
The startup sound is one of the best things I have ever heard. Ever.
Happy to here that :)
The sounds are marvelous, but I don't see any file in the archive other than the .ogg s. Can anyone tell me how to install on Gnome? Cheers
As far as I can tell, it's far more complicated than it should be. Make a new folder in /usr/share/sounds called Cleanus. Copy the index.theme from the /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu directory into it, edit it, and change the name listed in the file. Make a directory under Cleanus called stereo and copy the .ogg files there. Rename the files so they match those in the ubuntu/stereo directory.
As the subject said it ! :)
is broken :(
Clean, simple, and pleasing to the ear. The most cohesive Linux sound scheme I've encountered thus far. Very nicely done!
I like these sounds. They are simple and sweet.
These sounds are very nice, especially the IM sounds! Thank you!
Please archive those files in directory and then pack it with this directory. When you do so, after unpacking are files stored in own directory. So users don't have to create special directory for it. It is just minor thing, but it would be nice.
And please rename "Ubuntu download" to "Gnome download" or so. It is confusing and may lead to idea, that it is made only for Ubuntu. We should keep community together. Not discriminate users of other distributions ;-)
Wonderful sounds!
My archive manager is giving me errors that it can't open your gnome/ubuntu tar file. It says it's not a valid archive. any help?
The archive is a RAR file, not a TAR file.
It's true I had some problems with a Windows XP archiver. I made the new one on my openSuse, so it should work now.
The new archive works fine :-) These sounds are great. They need to be the default sounds for at least one distribution, imho.
Thank you everybody for your comments. The next update will have sounds for Gnome and an bash script for KDE to install it easily.
These are phenomenal. With a tiny bit of polishing, I'd love to see these sounds rolled with the next Kubuntu live disk. p.s, I made an account just to let you know how good a job you did :)
Yes, this definitely needs to be part of a distro.
You made a great job, really. :) Cheers!
if this sound theme is made by the publisher itself, it is stupidly underrated. ;) It deserves a lot more.
