That was my opinion too. I was tired to see nothing but Win conversions so I fired my GiMP.
By the way, get the last version. I didn't remember that the text cursor is also used in the Konsole and it was almost invisible because of the black background. Now a bright line appears any time the text cursor is on a dark background. That's better.
