Description: Konqueror 3.5.2 doesn't allow you any more to make a backup of an item in the same directory.
I already added an entry in the wishlist of Konqueror but, in the meantime, here is a service menu.
Right click on a file or a folder, give a new name and press RETURN. That's almost what we could do until version 3.5.1. (It also works for several items selected at the same time.)
I don't know where your problems are.
On my KDE 3.5.2 I could (like in older KDE's) copy and paste a file and konqueror then asks for another filename.
I usually do it with CTRL-C and CTRL-V!
Have also a look at my Backup-Tool, which could do the same, but with some extra features:

Hi,
I'm not sure but cannot you do the same thing by just copying the file (dir) to clipboard and then immediately pasting it back? Then KDE will ask for a new name. I often do this.
Or am I missing something?
Regards,
Gabor
Exactly what I was about to say. Select, CTRL+C, CTRL+V was my favorite way to make duplicates. When I realized it didn't work any more, I tested all other methods I could think about... then I created this service menu.
The one who decided to remove this feature should be publically spanked! ;-)

if you created a bugreport at bugs.kde.org, could you please provide a link to that bug for voting easily? i searched for it, but didn't find it.

I'd vote for that too!
OK, I should have checked before posting. This appears to have been fixed: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123796

This isn't possible in 3.5.2anymore. Don't know why.

This is good! I don't know why they took that feature away.
