Description:
This is a feature which I long thought was missing in KDE, so I looked into it and its actually really easy to implement!

Extract this file into ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus (at least in RH8 thats where it goes), and you will be able to simply right click on a jpeg file in Konqueror to *losslessly* rotate it clockwise, or counter-clockwise. This can be useful if you have taken pictures with a digital camera both in a landscape and portrait orientation, and would like to rotate them for proper viewing on screen.

This requires the jpegtran program, which is normally part of the libjpeg package.

Mozilla will try to display the gzipped text file directly so just click on the link and save the file as rotateImage.desktop and put it in ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus .

Works well - KDE3.2.2 Fedora Core 2. No refresh problem here either. Only point is there was no servicemenu directory, created one myself and it's all hunky-dory. Phil.

This is very cool! It works under SuSE 8.2 (also using ~./kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/rotateImage.desktop) like a charm. I didn't have a problem with the thumbnail refreshing, I am using Konqueror 3.1.3 from KDE 3.1.3. Thanx again, Tels

Nice KDE extension. its good to see all these projects popping up on kde-look. Could you please tell me what kstyle and font your using in that shot?`

Its the Bluecurve style, and the font is the default font for RH8, Luxi Sans.

For some reason the konqueror thumbnail view doesn't always refresh after doing this, so it may require an explicit F5 to show up (though the actual file is already rotate, the preview simply isn't synced up). Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a way (maybe using DCOP) to make konqueror refresh the view? Also, as a side note, does anyway know how to force a refresh of thumbnails by konqueror? I've run into the problem, if I overwrite one image with another, that the thumbnail of the image doesn't change (it continues to show the old image, which could be completely different).
