(you may also want to check out my Corel PaintShop Pro 2020 Shortcuts for Gimp 2.10.20)
Switching from Photoshop to Gimp can be challenging. These bindings convert more than 120 Gimp 2.10.20 keyboard shortcuts to Photoshop CC 2018 (or later) equivalents, or to reasonably close ones.
They also change the mouse behavior, though besides zooming by scrolling the wheel without needing the Ctrl key, the rest of the changes do NOT really match Ps. However, they'll hopefully make your life a little easier regardless.
A few bindings have been assigned to optional, free Gimp plugins (their D/L links are included in the Readme.txt file). For example, the resynthesizer Gimp plugin includes a function similar to Ps Content Aware Fill.
As far as I know, and as of this writing, these are the most comprehensive and the most up to date Photoshop bindings for Gimp, available anywhere.
The Complete Reference of all modified bindings is available online as a Google Sheet. If you do not know how to navigate in a Google Sheet, see the "BINDINGS REFERENCE" section in the Readme.txt file. A printable PDF version is also included in the bundle, but any future updates will appear on-line first.
I have created and tested the bindings on Windows, but they should work fine on any platform. They should also work fine with any Gimp theme (I am using my very own Clearlooks Gimp 2.10 Color Hinted Themes).
You only need to replace 2 files in your Gimp configuration folder (YOU PROBABLY WANT TO TAKE BACKUP COPIES FIRST):
• menurc
• controllerrc
Once you unpack my PsBindings.zip bundle, these files are located inside a sub-folder called: bindings_files
Just copy them individually into Gimp's configuration folder and you are all set!
The exact location of Gimp's configuration folder depends on the platform and the Gimp installation settings (it can also be hidden by default). See the "INFO & SETUP" section in the included Readme.txt file for detailed instructions.
If you are in a hurry, the folder should be something similar to the following (if not, you should really read the Readme.txt file for instructions on finding the correct folder on your system):
On Windows:
C:\Users\[your-username]\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10
On macOS:
/Users/[your-username]/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.10
On Linux (if Gimp installed from repository):
~/.config/GIMP/2.10
If your favorite Photoshop keyboard-shortcut is missing from my bindings or if it works differently, first have a look at the "KEY BINDINGS (INCOMPATIBILITIES RATIONALE)" section, in the Readme.txt file.
If you want to further customize/change Gimp's bindings yourselves, see the "BINDINGS CUSTOMIZATION" section, in the Readme.txt file.
Have fun
