Added this comment to get this back on the front page, as this seems to be the way to do it on kde-look. What a joke, someone should fix this.

What is that applet which says "idle" and shows the Noia konqueror icon in tha background? Some sort of network-monitor?

The applet is the K puplic file server. Right Click the System Tray menu, Add > Applet > Public File Server. It's a nifty little file server that does not get any recognition. It is rather handy for those of us who arent networking geniuses.
