The only difference between light, dark and normal are the action- and status-icons. They can only be seen in apps that use pixel-based action-icons (in the taskbar or the menu; e.g. Geany or Transmission). If the OS or an app uses the symbolic (svg-based) icons, the color is taken from the gtk-theme.

For some reason the light versions don't show the trash icon correctly
