HungSplash Konqueror Splash Page
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
Today, I upgraded from Mandrake 9.0 to Mandrake 9.1 RC2. Mandrake 9.1, unlike 9.0, uses KDE3.1. When KDE3.1 was installed on my system, Konqueror's default homepage file /usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html was deleted, and I got a 404 error when I loaded Konqueror. I almost changed my background to blank to save loading time, but I decided to make myself a homepage with links to common devices/folders I access. I thought I'd post a screenshot. The icons are from the Noia scheme. The picture is, of course, a well-hung squirrel (hence HungSquirrel). In the background is the HTML for my little Konqueror splash page in BlueFish. Last changelog:
added mountpoints for devices under their names as well as partition number for my Win partition
added "version number"
-----------
changed style to Keramik (didn't know MDK9.1 came with it)
changed colorscheme (my old one was ugly)
used BlueFish instead of KWrite as editor
changed thumbnail size to 800x600 (from 640x480)

...and if I remember correctly, my color scheme was just a slightly modified Keramik scheme. I'm not sure what to tell you to change to make the kicker background change because I'm at my girlfriend's house far away from my Linux box. :-(
thanks.., i will try that out.. hmm, if it won't take years;) i could wait till you're at your linux-box again, for more details about the color-scheme, if there is something 'magic' behind that, because, i think, at least the blue panel/applet-handles inside the kicker are little bit magic, because, if change the color of the window-background or other things in the controlcenter, the color will be changed 'global'. thanx
I know this works with KDE 3.1, but I'm not sure about older versions. To hide applet handles, such as for the taskbar and the clock, right-click on Kicker, and choose Configure Panel... Then go to Appearance. In the Appearance dialog is a button that says "Advanced Options...". This dialog contains a checkbox with the title "Fade out applet handles." Checking this will make the applet handles hide until you mouse over them.
yes, i already know about that, i also installed kde3.1, but i just wonder about the color of the applet-handles... before, i only saw the Liquid-style could do the trick. it colorize the whole kicker with the same color. ^-^
My kicker background is a simple vertical gradient (blending of two colors) made with The Gimp. To make one to your taste, simply open The Gimp, make a new file 78 pixels in height (I think that's the right number, I can't check because I am now 6 hours away from my Linux box :-( ), make the file any width, choose two colors you want to blend, select the gradient tool, and draw a vertical line. The Gimp will make a nice little blend for you.
could you also upload your color-scheme and tell about how you did setup (maybe) diffrent colors for standard window-background of konqueror and kicker(start)-menu ? (well, i just noticed, that your kicker seems totally blue, even the panel-handles, in oposite of the toolbar-handles of the konqueror-window.) thaaanx
could you please upload your kicker background ? its very nice! maybe without the text on it.. thanx
