Description:
This is exactly the same Keramik as you get with KDE 3.1, with a slight twist.

Animated progress bars.

Please note: 1) This is beta software. By downloading it and installing it, you're providing us KDE developers with free beta testing, as usual. 2) This feature is not yet in KDE CVS, but with your help, it very well could be!

IMPORTANT: This will install over your existing Keramik! Either back up the keramik.la and keramik.so files you already have, or prepare to lose them. This version of Keramik may cause stability problems, including intermittent crashes.
Last changelog:

UPDATE: Thanks to SadEagle, there's now an AVI available to show exactly what this does.

Look at http://c133.org/files/keramik-anim.avi if you want to see it... 'mplayer keramik-anim.avi -loop 0' will show you what it looks like in real life.

I didn't write this code. SadEagle did.

I just applied the patch, tested it, and packaged it up for you folks. Give it a try and let us know how it works! We're especially interested to find out any problems.

Oh wow, i just found this, and it is awesome. Definetly one of those lil bits of eye candy that was always lacking. Does anyone know if there is any sort of patch like this for Mosfet's liquid?

memodude

This theme is SO uberlicious. Yummy.

potatis

could you add a grey verical stripe, like the dotNET theme, behind the icons in menus when using Xrender-blendmode?

Pille

Great work! Thank you very very much! It's so beautyfull... Vielen Dank!

opjose

Very Nice! Any way to add more contrast? BTW: How about a "candy stripe" effect. This is easy to do with only left to right motion by modifying the bit map...

clee

I believe that you can alter the contrast using the 'Contrast' slider in KControl under Look'n'Feel/Colors. As far as the pinstripe goes... well, look around in the source! (Yes, this effect makes it possible to have real MacOS X-style progress bars.) Now if only keithp would move along with the X Translucency Extension... :)

xfury

i made a pinstripe replacement for progressbar-cc.png (under keramik/pics). you can drop it in and recompile slicker to get a pinstripe thing. however, the end caps of the progress bar dont really match... im busy with another theme to do much with it :). well anyway i'll put it here: http://www.forgottencrypt.net/~darion/progressbar-cc.png just download it and replace keramik's one with this one.

Cant wait for a version made with a recent keramik in the CVS HEAD. Looks good and its not that CPU intensive.

clee

This was made from CVS HEAD as of about 48 hours ago. -clee

Oops! Well thats great... Thanks anyway! And if you have other cool tricks in store for KDE, dont be afraid to share it with us... :)

Richardve

Ah, now I understand what you mean :) But I think it's better to implement animations using scripts though.. gives more possibilities (perhaps using QTScript??)

clee

Well, you do it your way, and send me an email when you get it to work. :) As it is, this is the most straightforward and efficient way to handle it. If you can come up with something better (as in code, not ideas) then please, feel free to show us up. -clee

manor

My mistake ! Sorry i wrote that you can still use your old unanimated keramik. That is not right ! Make backups !

manor

Hey don

cthulu

I really like the little changes that you have done to this .. very nice. Anyone complaining about the lack of pics should really just download and try it out .. takes only a minute to compile ;)

djwilly

perhaps two or three screenshots showing that animated keramik?

clee

Screenshots are useless for showing animation. As stated, this looks _exactly_ the same as the regular Keramik that you already have, except that the progressbar is now animated. If there is an easy way to make an MNG out of a window, frame-by-frame, please let me know.

Richardve

>> except that the progressbar is now animated. My progress bars are already animated? Could you explain what you mean with 'animated'? Is there something else that's moving, shuddering, jumping or whatever when using this patched version? :)
