In KDE it's a 2-step process... first, add the "menu" applet to your kicker (or a child panel like I believe I did here, if my recollection is accurate)... it will be empty, at first. Next you need to open kcontrol and go to Desktop>Behavior... then under "Menu Bar at Top of Screen" change it to the option "Current applications's menu bar (Mac OS-Style)". Enjoy!

very nice! but how did you create the menu in the top-panel? i tried it, but it won't work ... (i use kde 3.1)
