Description:
Grey Matrix Theme

This theme started out as a wallpaper I got from http://www.deviantart.com called 'Grey Matrix' (which is also now on KDE-Look). Now it's its own KDE 3.0 theme.

- contains two files (one for Mosfet Liquid users, and one for those without)

- included Fe2O3 skin for XMMS

- also contains file to add to .Xdefaults for good GNU Emacs color scheme

- PLEASE READ THE INCLUDED TEXT FILE

I keep getting this error from the Theme Manager "Theme does not contain a .themerc nor a .theme file." Am I missing something here?

I would like to just say thank you for a great looking theme, its the first one Ive got to work. Iam trying linux out and starting with the small stuff.

hpsolo

This is a file in your home directory. If you don't have a file called .Xdefaults then you can just create one with any text editor.

Hey I am a newb and I have no idea what you guys are talkign about with the xdefaults. I don't know where those folders are or how to find and then modify them...please help me out! :)

Where can I get the panel for this theme? Every theme I download seems to lack a panel =(, I'm new to Linux and just recently updated 8.2 to 9.0, and was looking forward to some KDE 3.0 themes, but I'm Linux dumb atm.

i might be particularly dense this afternoon, but i can't seem to locate the "Grey Matrix" wallpaper on the deviant art web site. does anyone have any tips for me ? thanks !

hpsolo

I forget which category it was under, but you can find the wallpaper here on KDE-Look.org under the Wallpapers section. It should be under 'Grey Matrix'

Hey, is that XMMS skin part of the package? I like that skin, it's groOvy! Tony

hpsolo

You can find 'em here on KDE-Look. As for installation, once you install the Crystal Icons per the directions of that package, just go to the control panel and select the proper icon set.

quisoc

So, I installed the theme, but I don't know where I can find the Cristal icons, because here there are many Cristal icons.

I'm new to linux so please bear with me here...I love this theme but I don't know how to make the windows transparent. Help?

sine

This screenshot has a transparent konsole window only. Not sure if you can make all the windows transparent, but anyway... Open konsole (the terminal/shell program) Right-click , choose Schema and pick one with Transparent in it's name -- Transparent Konsole is good for this theme as it has fairly bright text. Now, you'll want to make a schema of you own sooner or later with a different pair of colours. Best thing to do is to copy the schema file from /usr/share/apps/konsole into your /.kde/share/apps/kosole/ (call it something new). Then open it in an editor (Nedit) and hack it. It's all nicely commented to explain what things do. Tip: make sure you change the title setting... You can also get transparent menus. Have a look in the Look'n'Feel section of the KDE Control Center. hope it helps -- was flying blind here at work (well, with KDE 2 on a test machine... some things may have changed with konsole in 3.0)

I've redhat3, and installed your theme. Where do i have to place the .zip for the colors and buttons etc? I'm a bewbie so i need the exact location

hpsolo

you can just create an .Xdefaults file in your ~ directory and X should use it... :)

hawksterx

Please write step by step how to install and use this theme. I am new in Linux. Use KDE3.0, Suse 8.0. I followed the readme, but only the color is different. Can I copy the zip file to the /skin in zip mode? or how? Thanks,Peter

hpsolo

Untar the package with something like: tar xfzv filename.tar.gz Then use KDE's theme importer (somewhere in the control panel) to import the themes. As for the XMMS zip (skin) file, just copy it to ~/.xmms/Skins with something like: cp filename.zip ~/.xmms/Skins Good luck, hpsolo

dek

I like it alot. The greenish greyish touch is easy in the eyes. Looks great with qnxstyle.. Good job! btw: I've used the theme importer from kcontrol, since copying to the folders mentioned in the readme did not work for me.

cris123

great theme!!! I like it a lot!! I also like TOOL --> stinkfist a lot!!! hehe!!

voz

Looks nice. I should probably know this, but what is that window decoration called? It's simple, yet elegant. Was it included with Liquid at one time?

hpsolo

It's the "Mack Style" from Mosfet's Liquid.
