Hi,
This is a somewhat general question:
I have downloaded and installed mosfet's liquid for KDE3.0.x (not the latest one).
I set liquid up in the control centre pages and it seems to work OK. BUT...on many screenshots I see people's windows are now curved at the top instead of 90deg corners. How do I get this effect??? Is this a function of Liquid? What am I missing? My windows adopt the proper colour scheme and look Liquid-ified but no curved corners......grrrrrr
Thanks
Mike
Hi, it's kurty, from Italy.
Gotta little problem: I'm using a redhat 8.0, and when I try to setup the rpm downloadable from this site, is says me that I must setup the kdelibs 3.0.0, but I have setupped 3.0.3-8 version, and it should works...
Any comments?
Please write here or e-mail to kurty@libero.it
bye
That package was compiled under RH 7.3. On RH 8.0 you need to recompile with the correct libs.
Download the source RPM and do a rpmbuild --rebuild
You may download the src rpm from: http://einstein.weavers.com.br/~luizedu/liquid-theme/0.9.5/kdeextras-liquidtheme-0.9.5-1.src.rpm
and now?
I've downloaded this file:
mosfet-liquid0.9.5.tar.gz
Unpacked, i've done the "configure", "make" and "make install".
Everything gone fine but now I don't know what to do. Where is it installed on my system??
No Readme files found in the tar.gz... is it ok?
Please help me...
Thanks,
Dug
Yeah, Yeah, I know, I'm using a Beta so I'm asking for problems. When I upgraded from Redhat 7.3 to the Limbo Beta 2, Liquid disappeared. It's still installed, but I can no longer see it in the control panel. Anyone got any ideas?
Hey, I'm using MDK 8.2/KDE 3.0.2 but I've been getting the following error since earlier versions of KDE3:
There was an error loading the module.
The diagnostics is:
/opt/kde3/lib/libkcm_liquid.so: undefined symbol: _ZN7QWidgetSeventEP6QEvent
Please offer any insight on this error.
Thx,
Yesterday
I had a similar problem under Mandrake 8.2. Here's what I done:
Upgraded system to KDE 3.0.2 (including ALL dependancies)
Ensured env var's were present for KDEDIR and KDE was in the PATH
For High Perf Liquid, I then done a (after unpacking the source): ./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3
make
make install
This has install Liquid fine, although transparency for the KDE Kicker menu has been disabled :-(
Sidenote: Anyone know how to get this working under Mandrake 8.2?
Anyhow mate, hope this helps.
Confirm it all works under Mandrake 8.2 (via compiling) after getting the menu transparency working on the KDE kicker ... who forgot to restart their X session before commenting? *laughs* Oops ;-)
I really like Liquid except that it is not
easy for me to see which tab or button is
selected (i.e. in a konsole session). There needs to be some way to adjust or increase the contrast between selected and unselected buttons and tabs.
One other thing is that in the Liquid window decoration there is no help button (unlike many other styles).
Other than that, I love liquid.
I retract my comments about lack of contrast. I had changed the color scheme back to the KDE default. I found it rather confusing to change the button color and think that in general the KDE control center could use a lot of cleaning up.
On my Linux box I am running a combination of Liquid and Keramik and am quite pleased with the results.
i see some cool improvements in liquid for kde3 but how about Kde2 ?????
i'm not very good at compiling and i like my mandrake 8.2 with kde2 can you please tell me where i can get the new liquid versions for kde2 ????
anybody got a how-to for the install?
Im running SUSE 8.0 with KDE 3 and Ive tried every way to get this installed
please email me at gparsons@stx.rr.com
Pleeeeeease can we have a Mandrake 8.2 RPM, as soon as I upgraded to KDE 3.0 I installed Mosfet 0.9.3, but would like to upgrade.
I'll try this on my RH7.3 box though.
I presume this won't work on MDK8.2?
Cheers ;o)
I would love to use it as well. But when i go to install i'm missing bot ss1 files needed, so i try to install openss1.0.9.62b and i get more missing files. Anyone able to help, of if you can email me at ph-corp.com
You need the package openssl-0.9.6b-8 from RedHat. I'm assuming that you are using RedHat 7.2. Otherwise, you may need other packages.
$ rpm -q --whatprovides libcrypto.so.2
openssl-0.9.6b-8
Please bear with Newbie question here: as root I did an rpm -Uvh to the file and apparently it installed, but how do I actually apply the theme? There's no option in the control panel. Also, rpm doesn't recognize that the file is either isntalled or uninstalled so I can't figure out how to --test it to see what happened. Otherwise the theme looks like a work of art, I'd love to get it up and running.
Thanks.
How embarrassing; after the initial panic subsided and I poked & proded a few buttons I see that everything actually works beautifully...
Excellent work Mosfet :)
I followed your steps and everything seemed to be fine, but I can't find it?!?!?!..
Can you please tell me how can you set it up as the current theme? I didn't find it in the seem section under the control panel.

./configure --help|grep prefix you should specify where it should go: ./configure --prefix=X make make install X = /opt/kde or /usr or anything else

It might be helpful to note that this error occurs when trying to open to configuration module from the KDE Control Center

I can't seem to use gunzip to unpack it... any help would be greatly appreciated.
It looks like a bad download. Download directly from my site: http://einstein.weavers.com.br/~luizedu/liquid-theme/0.9.5/

Download the unnoficial RPM package for Mandrake from: http://plf.zarb.org/rpm/cooker/i586/kdemoreartwork3-liquid-0.9.5-1plf.i586.rpm

Man I would love to use this theme! Too bad there are no instructions for newbie's here that work! A little help here would go a long way.
