Do you still have the original gimp file(s) used to create this image (i.e with layers intact)? I have an idea for a KDE splash screen inspired by the Debian GNU/Linux bootsplash (the one featuring tux with reflection). I'm not that skilled graphic design wise, and your konqi with the halo effect could save some time.
I like the MacOS X Design. And this splash is pretty good (ok, it's pretty and good ;-) ...
But I think (like many do...) that Linux, especially KDE & GNOME should develop their own style.

the original file is a fireworks4-format(windows app). i will post a gimp-file with next update...
