Description: Kdenlive is a video editing GUI for KDE using the MLT video framework. It supports transitions, effects, multiple languages, multiple video formats, etc.
Kdenlive is pretty usable now, but we need YOUR help!
The new version of Kdenlive will be based on KDE4, hence we would like to bring You a more intensive and useful gui.
Please, feel free to contribute in the following themes:
- Redesign the menu system - Redesign the complete GUI (mockup) - Create new splashscreen - Contribute icons - Contribute ideas
Transitions seems to be disabled in this menu structure... Many users thought they should install transitions as add-on in this structure...
I don't have a suggestion at the moment but I'll try some mockups...
there is also work going on to get video editing in KOffice. They are making a 'shape' so you can use it in all KOffice apps, like kpresenter or kword... maybe some cooperation? would be cool...
Video EDITING in koffice ???
I thought the video shape was here to display, say, a video inside Kpresenter, mostly.
Have you got a link ?
I'dd be ( hapily ) surprised.
Well, I got this mostly from the mailinglist - there is some guy, elis, who works on one of the current video-editing apps for kde (calls it vivia on the mailinglist, could be he changed the name though) who asked on the list about inclusion in KOffice. I think he started working on it. here is a link to a mail from him:

(search the koffice devel mailinglist for vivia, you'll find more)
Hello!
I have seen the videoshape in the kde subversion repository.
Link here:

It is pretty useless for a video editor, it only gives support for including video into koffice documentations..
Vivia Video Editor:

The author did some more refinement of the interface, so screenshots are outdated, but they still display imho the best interface for video editing so far.
vivia still cant do much at the moment of what you would expect a video editor todo.
but the _interface_ is *very* clean. Since we are looking for ideas for an improved gui, we have a very nice example just in the neighbourhood.
(opposed to the uglyness of the adobe premiere screenshot that has been posted on the mailing list)
I just came across this editor the other day. Lives and Cinelerra are too professional for my tastes, and other editors simply do not offer enough options to make them useful. I really like where this editor fits in. Good luck with everything and keep up the good work. (I would help, but im incompetent as an artist, and not a programmer).
Hello!
Then just send bugfixes, feature requests, add some tutorials or extensions to the wiki book (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Kdenlive) or help us redesigning the menu, or, just post some ideas :)

We need an additional thing: - Having various mouse cursors would be helpful. Thanks: Zsolti

there will be an app, vivia, based on the shape... if the guy is still working on it, that is. http://lists.kde.org/?l=koffice-devel&m=116807640727659&w=2

There is only one problem with viva: viva supports only dv ...
