Description: A small change on my "OSNews Karamba" theme (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=12781), pointing to linuxnews.pl as requested by majes.
It is also possible to change the rss source to your favorite news site, just change one line in the script..check the readme.txt file
--> Important note!!!! The variable "delaytime_minutes" sets how often the theme will access the rss feed for updates. The default value is 10 minutes, which is OK for most cases, but if you're planning to use it with Slashdot, you _must_ set it to at least 30 minutes, otherwise you'll be temporarily banned for "abuse". I'd recommend you to use 35 or 40 minutes, just in case.Last changelog:
version 0.4: - Improved the performance (reduced CPU load etc)
version 0.3.1 - Displays an error message if the connection to the rss feed fails - Improved the formatting of the "summary blurb", for long summaries.
version 0.3 - ziuchkov kindly sent me the fix for the update problem. Now the theme updates the news every 10 minutes. Tx ziuchkov!
version 0.2 - I changed a bit the script so it's easy for anyone to configure different RSS feeds (slashdot, etc). The instructions are in the readme.txt file.
version 0.1 (initial release) - Couldn't find out how to make the theme reload every few minutes, any help appreciated.
I get the messege Can't connect to RSS feed for http://www.linuxnews...." the rest is not visible. I changed the script to get slashdot news, but why does linuxnews not work?
Could you make this app more generalised and generic (ie. dialog asks for news source, etc).
This would make this a great all-purpose news reader applet...
OK I can try :)
The only problem is about the logo on top...would have to be something generic.
But anyway your idea is nice, I'll think about it, thanks.
By now there are no dialogs to change the source, but you can make simply changing 1 line in the script..the instructions are in the readme.txt file.
Check the second screenshot, showing slashdot instead.

Doesnt work with the feed from heise.de either. Its URL is http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise.rdf Would be really cool, if you get that working.
