Description:
This is a fully transparent theme for fans of extreme transparency for usage with dark, homogeneous wallpapers. In other cases, it won't work too well. It is basically slightly modified Manjaro's Maia Desktop Theme under GPL 3 license (https://gitlab.manjaro.org/artwork/themes/maia/blob/b61312cc80cb9d12b0d8a55b3e61668eb6b77d2d/LICENSE), but with the completely transparent panel and menus (except dashboard menu, which doesn't follow theme background settings).

To install:
- unpack
- move/copy folder to: ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme or /usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/

Note: When first applying this theme, it's quite common that the panel border will be displayed as a temporary remnant. It will go away after rebooting plasmashell process or plasma session. Also, don't forget to turn off the blur effect in desktop effects!

Danke, Heiko Goldhahn

On Plasma 5.20.4, some of the icons are unnecessarily large and some small. Is this a general issue and if so, are any fixes planned? Here is a link to an image: https://imgur.com/a/CZbhIsu By the way, it would be great if there was a GitHub/GitLab repository. I couldn't find one.

I don't see anything wrong with the icons. This is the current Plasma design, and it looks the same on other themes. Many people complained that the pin icon is not touch friendly, so it became bigger, while others stayed small, because they don't have any function). It’s a good idea with github. I do have an account but thought that the theme is "unworthy" to have a project there, but now I think that it won't hurt to have one :). I'll create it when I find some time.

simonbrandner

The theme is definitely worthy of a GitHub repo! Some of the icons are too small, which I think is a bug. But I think I'll rather fill out an issue on GitHub later. This doesn't seem to be the right place for bug reporting/troubleshooting.

I don't think you will find what you are looking for because most things are pulled from Plasma defaults, but I can be wrong. Anyway, I created a repo on Github. You can analyze the files and submit pull requests if you find something you can improve. Also, you can start discussions (more loosely topics that are not meant to be issues). Here is the link to the github repo: https://github.com/michaldybczak/MaiaTransparent-plasma-theme Please, note that I'm not a coder, so my git know-how are limited, I know basics but hopefully this will do. I created it a many years ago, and I don't deal with it on a daily basis, so I will have to re-learn things. Also know, I work and have over-times, so I don't have much time to focus on such projects anymore, but we'll see how it goes.

Awesome! Thank you!

I have uninstalled this theme, but there's a leftover at /usr/share/plasma/layout-templates/org.manjaro.desktop.maiaPanel. I guess I could delete this dir without any consequences?

michaldybczak

The theme should be installed in ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/ (preferably) or in /usr/share plasma/desktoptheme/. Your path is different and org.manjaro.desktop.maiaPanel doesn't belong to my theme. It is probably a package installed theme (on Manjaro/Arch) so it wouldn't be wise to remove it manually. Rather look for maia named packages in your package manager.

madjoe

I just talked to Manjaro developers, it's a part of Manjaro... a naming confusion, sorry, not related to your theme whatsoever. Thanks.

What is the icon theme if you dont mind sharing?

michaldybczak

Unfortunately, the screenshot was taken many years ago and I don't remember. I don't have that icon pack right now on my computer.

seanvirgo

Hi there, can you please share the wallpapers here on your presentation? They look great! ;)

michaldybczak

I'm currently not on my main machine and will not be for 2-3 or more another weeks, so I can't fulfill that wish. I'm not sure if I will remember it after that time, but I'll try. Those files should show up to download on the files tab.

seanvirgo

Thank you very much! I will remind you in 3 weeks. Is a theme like this available for Pop OS?

seanvirgo

Hi there, Did you manage to get a hold of the Wallpapers?

seanvirgo

Hello, did you manage to get to your main computer?

michaldybczak

Yeah, I did and I found the wallpaper. You can download it from Files page now.

seanvirgo

Thanks so much! Do you also have the 3rd Mountain one (in the daytime) available?

michaldybczak

I added it as well. Enjoy. For more wallpapers of this mountain, see here: https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=matterhorn+wallpaper&atb=v212-1&ia=images&iax=images

For anyone looking for the wallpaper in the screenshot, you can find it here: https://wallpapercave.com/yosemite-valley-wallpapers If there is any image you want to find the source of it, there is reverse image search. you can use Google's image search or Microsoft Bing image search. I personally prefer Yandex as I found that It gives more accurate results

Hi, I've tried this theme on Manjaro, but the panel is not transparent. I tried both versions and reboot together, but no good result. What can I do to make the panel transparent? Here is the screenshot. https://imgur.com/a/sUmXjl0 Thanks!
