Description: Sidebar for Konqueror like the Sidebar introduced with windows xp. You have to do a lot of work to change the HTML-page to fit your needs. There are two stylesheets included: Keramik and Kreamik Emerald. See the screenshots.Last changelog:
Added profile-file
Now added forgotten README. Sorry for the trouble.
np.. that's quite easy..
Go to the settings-menu of the Kicker.
(I don't know how the buttons are called
exactly, cause I have a german version.)
Then you will see a field, which is
titled "Lenght"...
regards
How about a preview area in the sidebar? Let's say in the right hand window you have highlighted an image or some other media. It would then display (enlarged format but not full size, or other media would display a default icon or image representing it) in the preview area on the left, in the sidebar. Maybe using cervisia like you can in konqueror preview mode. This would be similar to how XP handles media selected in the explorer window.
cheers,

when i change the html file to work with my directories etc, and change the icon path, or make any mdification at all, or even just save it as a different name, all that comes up is a grey background..no nice stuff...it works with no mods, but of course all the directories are wrong..an anybody help please? i really like this
For example, if you want to delete the entry "Webserver root", you can either delete the line or comment it out with two slashs ( // ). But only doing that doesn't work, you'll have to delete the "," in the line above.
But Back2Topic: I really like it. It's very useful! Good work! I don't know why it's not rated at 100%.
I have the same problem.
May be I am to stupid. If you know how
to make the changes without ending up with
a grey background would be very nice
of you to give me a little help.
Thanks:)
Right now I'm creating a version of this nice thing which is easier to edit because it is mostly written in pure html, not in Javascript. The sourcecode is longer, but also much easier. I think that I will have finished my version in 20 minutes. I also made some little improvements. But you'll see.
It happened to me too. And every time it was the same thing - I had added a "comma" while defining even the last entry in a box.
Just double-check your "comma", compare with original with how it is.
Hope that helps.
I think it is a brilliant idea! (just after karamba).
I've added few separate columns (48x48 head icons, rest 32x32), with very few and very relavent entries in each.
It has greatly improved the navigation time to local or network access :)
cheers!
The screenshtos look great, but I have one important question, are these context sensitive like XP's? Also, I think taht these can be made extensions to the current anvigation panel, since you can add new tabs.
Too bad about this: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62679 and this http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62678 they really take away from the suefulness of the navigation panel. But otherwise, I can see this easily implemented in the navigation panel. Simply click to ad d new tab and point it to an html file with the links you want.
I think there is a safety warning when a link on a website is pointing to a locale executable. You get a warning: "Are you sure want to execute the programm" or something like this. But there must be possibility to start an executable because the webbased controllcenter makes heavy use of it.
I think there is a warning message when a link pointing a local executable is clicked. But there must be a possibility to start programm without warningbecuase the webbased controllcenters make heavy use of it.
Very nice, but obviously I am too stupid to get it work. After freezing I get the message "Sie haben konqueror mit inode/directory verknüpft, aber das Programm kann diesen Dateityp nicht verarbeiten". Maybe you could sent the relevant profile from ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/profiles, so we can refer to that to help ourself get it work.
Thanks
I think this is interesting idea. This, let's name it "KDE improvement", is especially good for linux newcomers who like Windows XP.
I couldn't find out how to make links open in sepate part of the window. I would like to make this sidebar always stays in that place, and when you click on any link of sidebar it opens the content of the link in the right part of the window. Is that possible?
If no, I would rate this bad :-(

sorry this is dumb question but how do you make that kicker (which everyone seems to have) like the one on the first screenshot?

But (for people like me) it's take a lot of space in browser.

...but it don't see the use of it that is worth the waste of space on my desktop. Sorry, it's just my own humble opinion.
With some editing to the html file, I have a kick ass side bar! Thanks!
Could you make a screenshot of your improved version?

No, they are not context-sensitive. But it is possible to have a html-site in the Sidebar even in KDE 3.1?
Is it possible to start programs, e.g. k3b, too?
Apparently yes. But konqueror always asks me for confirmation if it really should open k3b. Is there a way to switch this "security" feature off?

sorry for the doublepost I thought my comment wasn't saved.

I had the same trouble while developing the sidebar: You think have to activate "connect view" in both views.
Ok, works now!
