Hey!

MacUltimate Leopard it's an icon pack that I compiled and improved for myself and decided to share with all the lovers of the Mac design.

This icon theme fits smooth with the great Mac4Lin Project.
In fact, I didn't like some things from the Mac4Lin Icon Pack, so that was one of the reasons to made this icon pack (by the way, the pack has already some months, but lately I've been improving it, and make it look really nice with the Ubuntu 8.04, with all the updates).

It's majorly a mix of "LeopardX V2.6" and "Mac4Lin Icon Theme", but has some icons from "black-white 2 Style" and "Clearlooks OSX", from one or another icon packs and some I've made myself.

Enjoy It!

As a bonus for all that use the awesome Avant Window Navigator, I share my custom-icons, so that some applications look nice in the bar (because not all things are applied by the icon pack). If you want to use it, just copy and paste the icons in /home/*user*/.config/awn/custom-icons

***** UPDATE - Jun 15 2008 *****

Hey there!

This time, I bring you improvements to the icon pack.

I've added some new application icons I have and improved some other icons that were already in the previous pack (such as gtk related icons - cut, copy, search...). Maybe the main difference that you'll notice is that I've changed the network-manager icon and now it's using the one from Mac4Lin Icon Pack, but I've made the one when there's 0% of network to look like the Mac one (looks like an inverted triangle).

Because in the comments an user said that would like to have the "black ubuntu icon" instead of the "apple icon", to anyone who what it too, the quickest way to do that is open your terminal and paste this:

cd /home/*your_user*/.icons/MacUltimate_Leopard/scalable/places
ln -s -f main-menu.png start-here.png
ln -s -f main-menu.png gnome-main-menu.png
ln -s -f main-menu.png distributor-logo.png
killall gnome-panel

Of course, don't forget to replace *your_user* with your username.

I would like to call your ATTENTION to the fact the I've changed the name of the folder where the pack is installed from LeopardX_V3.1 (it was a mistake I've made, because this was the name I used to call it and I've forgotten to change when made the previous pack upload) to MacUltimate_Leopard. This way it's more correct. Before you install this updated pack, I would recommend you to remove the previous pack (because it will not be necessary anymore). To do that so, run your terminal and paste the following line:

rm -r /home/*your_user*/.icons/LeopardX_V3.1
(Once again, replace *your_user* with your username)

Finally, there's an updated AWN Custom Icons if you want to use it.

Enjoy it!

***** UPDATE - Jun 18 2008 *****

Not much to say. Only bug fixes (pointed by user in the comments and some others I've found), some new icons and an alternative mirror.

***** UPDATE - Jul 24 2008 *****

Hello everybody!

Here I am again with an updated MacUltimate Leopard icon pack.

Like in the previous updates, this one brings some bugfixes (there were some icons in places they shouldn't be, etc), improvements (I think I could make some icons better, so I did) and, of course, new icons. In this particular point, there are icons from some applications I recently installed (and maybe some of you have them too) and, what I think it's the best, all the Wine-related icons are now Mac-a-like (if you go to Applications -> Wine, you will know what I'm talking about).

This time, I decided to make the icon pack with the "black ubuntu icon" in the top panel. I made this decision because now I use it and it seems like many people prefers it instead the "apple icon". But for everyone who want the "apple icon", just run your terminal and paste the following lines (don't forget to replace *your_user* with your username):

cd /home/*your_user*/.icons/MacUltimate_Leopard/scalable/places
mv -f start-here_.png start-here.png
mv -f gnome-main-menu_.png gnome-main-menu.png
mv -f distributor-logo_.png distributor-logo.png
killall gnome-panel

Finally, if you use the amazing Avant Window Navigator, there's an updated AWN Custom Icons if you want to fit AWN with your icon pack (to install, see above the instructions).

Well, this is it. Hope you enjoy this update, and specially, the MacUltimate Leopard!

***** UPDATE - Set 27 2008 *****

Hi people!

Heres a small update for the package. Some new application icons and some bugfixes.

Enjoy!

***** UPDATE - Nov 30 2008 *****

Hi!

Here I am, once again, to bring you an update of MacUltimate Leopard.
With the new Ubuntu Intrepid, came a new version of Gnome, which as some changes in the icons and made some icons in the package became wrong.
So, with this update, everything is right again: there are some changes, new icons and bugfixes. If you detect something wrong, leave a comment that I'll try to resolve it as soon as I can.

Greetings!

***** UPDATE - Dez 10 2008 *****

Hello everyone!

New icons, bugfixes, some changes... well, a new update to the MacUltimate Leopard! If you want a nicer experience, you should really install this update.
As I said before, if you find something wrong, let me know.

Enjoy!

PS: There's an updated version of AWN Custom Icons too.

***** UPDATE - Fev 22 2009 *****

Hello!

Not really much to say, this time. Some new icons, and 2/3 small bugfixes.
And an updated AWN Custom Icons pack.

Hope you like it!

***** UPDATE - Jul 14 2009 *****

Hi! Long gone since the last update. Here's the pack with some new icons, and in a new host.
I couldn't solve the "problem" with the restart icon, so if anyone knows what can I do, I would appreciate very much.

Enjoy.

***** UPDATE - Jan 27 2010 *****

Hey there, everyone! Half an year has passed since the last update. How the time runs... =D

Sorry for not post this update earlier, but my life lately has been very busy, so only recently I had the opportunity to install Ubuntu 9.10 - Karmic Koala and made the necessary changes required in the icon pack.

So, it contains some new icons and the necessary bugs fixes to some things that were changed in this new version of GNOME, included in Karmic Koala.

About the Custom AWN Icons, there's no update because I no longed use it, because now I use AWN 0.3.9 and the integration with the system icons is awesome. To install this version, just search for "awn-testing ppa" and install it (the package name is avant-window-navigator-trunk).

Hope you all alright and I wish you enjoy this icon theme. =D

UPDATE: The previous package had problems extracting some files. Now there's an updated package, with no problems.

Hi, anyone can help me out on how to change the shutdown icon on the top right of the picture to the old ambiance one please

poodpood

Hi, the package is still showing humanity icons in places menu instead of your icons. Killing gnome panel does not solve this. This has been tried on 2 different ubuntu installations, both Karmic, the problem prevails.

RedAcid

Well, that continues to be strange 'cause in my Karmic everything is fine. But I think I've found a solution for that problem (an icon name that seemed to be missing in the theme). I'm not telling that it'll definitely work, but it's worth the shot. Run this command in the terminal: ln -s -f /home/$USER/.icons/MacUltimate_Leopard/scalable/places/folder.png /home/$USER/.icons/MacUltimate_Leopard/scalable/places/gnome-folder.png Then kill the gnome-panel (or change to other icon theme, and then change back), and let me know if it works. ;)

RaiCoss

If you're a 9.10 user AVOID. It's just broken.

RedAcid

I'm using Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 and the icon theme fits perfectly in the system. I've even downloaded the pack from the link and installed it, just to see if everything went fine, and it did. So, I don't know what could be happening in your situation. Try to extract the file and move it to /home/$USER/.icons and see if it works. PS: By the way, that was a bit rude of you, don't you think? Maybe you could just ask why you had problems installing it or explain what problems occurred. That would be much more pleasant. Tell everyone to avoid it just because you encountered problems, doesn't seem right to me. :\

RaiCoss

Let's see; It causes networkmanager to fudge up and close. Missing menu icons. The Place folder icons stay as the default Humanity icons. Don't have those problems with any other icon themes. Go figure.

RedAcid

"It causes networkmanager to fudge up and close." As I recommended in the issue above about the Battery Icon, did you tried to kill gnome-panel after that (or even kill the xserver, just once)? Sometimes, notification area icons have a strange behavior when a new icon theme is applied. "Missing menu icons." If I'm thinking about the same menu icons, they're not enabled by default in the GNOME version shipped with Ubuntu 9.10. "The Place folder icons stay as the default Humanity icons." Try to kill gnome-panel (yes, again). "Don't have those problems with any other icon themes. Go figure." In my system everything is fine. About 2000 people have downloaded the icon theme since the last update, and only 3 (including you) have reported problems. I've tried the best I could to explain why those problems occurred and solutions to them. And you kept being rude, so, lets face some facts. I'm just a guy who started to do this for fun and decided to share the efforts with the community. Every time a new version comes out and I've got the time to install it, one of the first things I do, is check what's wrong in the icon theme, fix it and upload it to GNOME-Look.org, so everyone is able to use the theme in perfect conditions in the newest version. If it's right on my system, I assume that it must be right for other people's system. But, if it's bad to you, and paraphrasing you, you don't have those problems with any other icon themes, use them. Maybe you'll be happier with them.

RaiCoss

Even rebooting doesn't fix the network borkage. And just because 2000 people have downloaded it, and only 3 have raised issues, doesn't mean it's a freak glitch. Not everyone can be arsed to report a bug, and most people probably don't have a GL account. Oh and I did read through the other issues. Doesn't solve anything. I've used your theme loads before and had no probs at all, this is just a bad release apparently.

RedAcid

"And just because 2000 people have downloaded it, and only 3 have raised issues, doesn't mean it's a freak glitch. Not everyone can be arsed to report a bug, and most people probably don't have a GL account." Maybe I should not assume that if anyone as an issue, he/she would at least register to try to solve it, but I did it. And I've never said that it was a freak glitch, I just said that there where only 3 people reporting issues, which is not strange, and I tried my best to solve it. "I've used your theme loads before and had no probs at all, this is just a bad release apparently." As I said before, everything in my system is alright. I can't just solve other people's issues from where I'm sitting, but I can try to guide them to solve those issues. Ah, and this was just taken 2 minutes ago: http://i.imgur.com/2qMmn.png

I re-downloaded this package the other day. As far as I can tell all the icons are working well except the battery icon which shows as the default icon. Any clue on a fix? Thanks!

RedAcid

It happened to me the first time, but after I killed gnome-panel (or you could try to kill the xserver or even reboot), everything worked out. Try it, and if that don't work, maybe it's icon size related, so let me know which is the size of your gnome-panel.

jssepos

Currently I am running Karmic Netbook Remix which means that I cannot resize the panel. I don't think that is the issue though, I am pretty sure it is around 19 - 22 pixels, probably whatever the standard is. All of the other icon packs I have downloaded have worked just fine with the panel, this is the first one I've had that doesn't work, which is sad because I like it the best. Let me know what you think!

RedAcid

Well... I just don't know what that could be. =S Try to copy the contents of the "24x24/status" folder and paste them in "22x22/status" and/or "16x16/status" (create the "status" folders, because they don't exist), and see what happens.

jssepos

I re-downloaded this package a day or so ago. Everything is running ok minus the battery icon which shows as the default icon for Karmic. Any clue on a fix? Thanks!

poodpood

The folders in the drop down Places menu revert back to the default Gnome icons when I installed the theme, any idea why?

RedAcid

Not really. =S Here's everything fine. That folders appear correctly. Did you try to kill the gnome-panel or kill the gdm or even reboot the computer? Just to make sure that everything is installed fine. And are you using Gnome 2.28.1?

zoeid

thanks a lot I needed to upgrade their karmic was about to reinstall Ubuntu 8.10 without any of these icons, I love them .. !!

poodpood

I get the same errors when installing and extracting, please fix as I love this theme!

RedAcid

Fixed. Sorry for the bad package.

klemperal

Below is a very small snippet of the errors I get when I attempt to extract this theme. Although the file does extract, many icons are missing. Please let us know when this is fixed or what the problem might be on my end. Also, have you considered updating the navigation icons? Finally, thanks a lot for packaging and maintaining this theme--its definitely one of my favourites. tar: MacUltimate_Leopard/mimes/48/gnome-mime-application-vnd.ms-access.png: Cannot open: Not a directory tar: MacUltimate_Leopard/mimes/48/gnome-mime-application-vnd.lotus-1-2-3.png: Cannot open: Not a directory tar: MacUltimate_Leopard/mimes/48/gnome-mime-application-rtf.png: Cannot open: Not a directory tar: MacUltimate_Leopard/mimes/48/gnome-mime-application-ram.png: Cannot open: Not a directory tar: MacUltimate_Leopard/mimes/48/gnome-mime-application-postscript.png: Cannot open: Not a directory tar: MacUltimate_Leopard/mimes/48/gnome-mime-application-pdf.png: Cannot open: Not a directory tar: MacUltimate_Leopard/mimes/48/gnome-mime-application-ogg.png: Cannot open: Not a directory tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

An Icon Theme should have a valid .theme file among its files and aim to be complete for desktop use under Gnome or KDE Plasma.

If it contains only a single icon or a small set of icons, please use the Icon Sub-Sets or Single Icon/Logo categories instead.
