For applying GDM themes, there is this tool:

Note Ubuntu uses LightDM, so you would need to switch to GDM first to use GDM themes:

i know this is a begginer question.. but how do you isntall a gdm theme in ubuntu 10.04?
idk if u can. i think there's a way to add gdm to 10.04, but not sure how. i don't think u can by default, tho.
I go to System->Preferences->Appearance and it says that it's not a valid theme.
That's because it's not a GDM/KDM theme, it is a Login Screen theme. Install it by going to System > Administration > Login Window and clicking on the local tab.
Sorry, I mean it's not a GTK Theme
Ahh okay. Now it makes sense. Thanks.
I had taken my site down for maintainance but it is back up now and so you should be able to download the file again. Sorry for the inconvenience :D
It looks really nice, but when I try to download it, your site tells me it needs username and password. Let me know when it's fixed, because I really wanna download it.
I'd love one with the Companion Cube :D
bigger, I mean ;)
