When I actually install it, the top of the button is cropped off.
Checked the .png in EOG, too, it really is cropped off and not a rendering error.
Any chance of getting that fixed?
If you mean that the top and bottom are separate pieces, yes that is true. They have to be in a has top type button. Try a clearlooks based panel engine and see if that changes the situation. In my personal experience the clearlooks engine on the panel works better for rendering the panels and sliders and the murine engine is best for everything else.
