Description: This metacity theme fits better (in my opinion) with dark gtk themes. Like in Adwaita, all its elements (including buttons) are direcly drawn in the xml file (i.e., the theme is composed by a single metacity-1.xml file).
To install, just download the .zip file, uncompress it and copy the contents to /share/themes/. After that, the DarkUglyCase theme should appear as an option on the gnome-tweak-tool (tab Theme->Window Theme).
To install using the terminal, consider the following commands: wget www.deviantart.com/download/280673981/dark_ugly_case_metacity_by_kant_o-d4n3tfh.zip unzip dark_ugly_case_metacity_by_kant_o-d4n3tfh.zip sudo cp -r DarkUglyCase/ /usr/share/themes/ rm dark_ugly_case_metacity_by_kant_o-d4n3tfh.zip rm -r DarkUglyCase/ gnome-tweak-tool
After choosing the metacity theme on gnome-tweak-tool, one has to restart gnome-shell. This can be done by issuing Alt+F2 write 'r' on the dialog and press Enter
Please note that I only tested the theme on Gnome3, but it should work on Gnome2 also. The theme should then appear as an option for the windows on the appearances settings of Gnome2.
Hope you enjoy it.
Note: I will update this submission with better screenshots later on.
The wallpaper I am using is from hyperdude111 and it is available in http://hyperdude111.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4mbk5a Details on the gtk3 and gnome-shell themes used in the screenshot can be found in the following link: http://kant-o.deviantart.com/#/d4md6x2Last changelog:
v 1.0 - Initial Release v 1.1 - Minor tweak to keep the buttons at the top even when the size of the font changes.
You're playing with my emotions now. I never thought I would want to switch my metacity theme again after getting what I had back from Gnome 2, your SS's show true potential. Beautiful.
