As discussed this is a firefox bug/stupid design decision on the part of Mozilla to theme website content based on the system GTK theme. Newest release includes updated instructions / helper script to workaround the issue. The current recommended workaround is to use a user.js file to force Firefox to use Adwaita for themeable website content. - Aug 27 2018
