Description:

Smb4K is a SMB/CIFS (Windows) share browser for KDE. It uses the Samba software suite to access the SMB and CIFS shares of the local network neighborhood. Its purpose is to provide a program that's easy to use and has as many features as possible.

Features:
* Scanning for (active) workgroups, hosts, and shares
* Mounting and unmounting of SMB and CIFS shares, including unmounting all shares at once
* Access to the files of a mounted SMB or CIFS share using Konqueror
* Auto-detection of external mounts/unmounts
* Remounting of recently used shares on program start
* Miscellaneous infos about the mounted SMB and CIFS shares
* Network search
* WINS server support
* Preview of shares
* Selectable look-up and search methods
* Default login
* Ability to execute mount and umount SUID root (using super or sudo)
* Special handling of homes shares
* Ability to bookmark favorite shares
* System tray icon
* Support of advanced Samba options
* Support of printer shares
* KWallet support
* Konqueror plugin (KDE 3 versions only)
* Synchronization of a remote share with a local copy (and vice versa)
* Ability to define custom options for individual servers and shares

The current stable branch (0.10.x) depends on KDE 4 only (KDE >= 4.0, Qt >= 4.3, and Samba >= 3.x).

Linux and FreeBSD are supported. Smb4K might also run under different operating systems.

If you experience problems, you can get support on the Smb4K-general mailing list: https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/smb4k-general

Bugs can be reported to our bug tracker: http://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?group_id=769

Changelog:

* Cope with trailing slashes in the UNC. Needed for cifs-utils package under Linux.
* Fixed crashes in Smb4KSystemTray::slotSetupSharesMenu().
* Fixed crashes in Smb4KScanner::scanForWorkgroupMembers().

*** Please note that this version does not ship with the translations from l10n-kde4! ***

 Re: Output on my other computer

Reading the debug output, I found this:

Quote:
Server requested LANMAN password (share-level security) but 'client lanman auth' is disabled
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

What operating system is running on Guru? This error should not occur with Windows 2000 and up or Samba. If you've got Windows 98 installed, you might want to consider setting this option to TRUE. However, the smb.conf manual page (http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/manpages-3/smb.conf.5.html) advises against it.

 Operating Systems

 by bsurfin on: Jun 17 2010

The only Operating system on this Computer "Guru" is Kubuntu 10.04, My Other Computer "Outlaw" Has Kubuntu 10.04 and XP in Virtual Box, Which I never really use unless I'm showing someone how virtual box works. My Girlfriend on the network Has Windows XP Pro.

The Output was from my Kubuntu Machine "Guru". I completely wiped the hard drive before installing Kubuntu both times so I'm not sure why or how it is possible Samba is giving that output.

I Just got done reinstalling Kubuntu on Guru again just to see if I would get the same results and I did and that is what the output was from. Another strange thing is that I used the Same install DVD to install Kubuntu 10.04 one of my friend's laptops' and smb4k is showing the tree with exactly the same software setup as I have on this Dell laptop.

So I'm not sure why I get better results with my friend's laptop than I get with my Dell & Toshiba Laptops?

Strange...

What happens if you set
client lanman auth = yes
in the [Global] section of the smb.conf file?
