Description:

PeaZip is a cross-platform, desktop neutral file archiver utility that provides an unified portable GUI (Qt and GTK2) for many Open Source technologies like 7-Zip, FreeArc, PAQ, UPX...

Create 7Z, ARC, BZ2, GZ, *PAQ, PEA, QUAD/BALZ, TAR, UPX, WIM, XZ, ZIP files

Extract over 150 archive types: ACE, ARJ, CAB, DMG, ISO, LHA, RAR, UDF, ZIPX and many more...

Features of PeaZip includes extract, create and convert multiple archives at once, create self-extracting archives, split/join files, strong encryption with two factor authentication, encrypted password manager, secure deletion, find duplicate files, calculate hashes, export job definition as scripts.

Installation and integration in *x systems:

If experiencing problems running PeaZip compiled for Qt, start it as:
peazip -style=cleanlooks

If experiencing problems with PeaZip compiled for Qt widgetset, it is available PeaZip compiled for GTK2 libraries as alternative, or it is possible to compile the application for its own Qt version using Lazarus/FreePascal IDE, which supports compiling the sources for various widgetsets: Win32, WinCE, fpGUI, Carbon, Qt, GTK1, GTK2.

On Linux systems, PeaZip installer automatically create menu entries for KDE (on most versions); to add PeaZip to Gnome menu copy the "Archiving" folder placed in PeaZip/Freedesktop_integration/nautilus-scripts to system's Nautilus script's folder (in most versions open "Scripts" menu in system's context menu, and select "Open script's folder").

Qt widgetset packages requires Qt 4.5 or more recent, and needs libQt4Pas.so installed in /usr/local/lib or equivalent directory (copy the file and run ldconfig; it is done automatically in installable packages), such as /usr/lib or /usr/lib32 on some 64 bit distributions.
A copy of libQt4Pas.so is available in PeaZip's directory, ./usr/local/share/PeaZip/ for the installable packages.
If the Qt version does not start on some systems, as some system's visual styles may cause recursive repainting error, you can fix the problem starting it in a console (or script) as: peazip -style=cleanlooks

On 64 bit systems, backend binaries in PeaZip/res path can be freely replaced by users with respective 64 bit counterpart (if available).

PeaZip Portable is standalone software and doesn't need installation and can be used from removable or remote paths without changing the host system (useful is system needs to stay library-freezed).
'Freedesktop_integration' folder in PeaZip's path contains .desktop files and Nautilus scripts to help users to configure tighter integration of PeaZip with desktop environment's menus.

Changelog:

2014 10 19
Batch file rename, new file manager advanced selection filters, improved graphic files conversion and editing, various fixes and improvement.

On some machines the Qt version may raise recursive repainting error, it can be avoided starting the application from link (or script or console) as peazip -style=cleanlooks

Qt widgetset packages requires Qt 4.5 or more recent, and needs libQt4Pas.so (a copy is available in PeaZip's directory) installed in /usr/local/lib or equivalent directory, like /usr/lib or /usr/lib32; copy the .so file and then run ldconfig.

Also have that problem with openSUSE 12.1 :(

Is there a way to make that "-style=cleanlooks" option default here on my install? (so that it works either outside the konsole)

servicemenus not working in kde 3.5.10

QT Stand Alone:

The kservicemenus aren't working in kde 3.5.10. PeaZip comes up and then closes. I can launch the binary directly.

Its likely too dependant on the newest version of qt4? I'm running qt4.4.1. I can't upgrade without breaking tons of working apps.

Is there something I can do?

Thanks in advance.

PS:
The MS version is working perfectly, I can now even create .exe files without crashing the worst setups.

It is very strange that the application can run launched directly but not from menus, it seems there are some problems in how parameters are passed by your latest desktop environment.
In case of problems with the Qt version it should run with -style=cleanlooks, otherwise you could try to run the GTK2 version.

The GTK version does work fine with kservicemenus.

where in the servicemenu would I add -style=cleanlooks?

Thank you for responding so quickly...

Sorry I meant to say I will add -style=cleanlooks to the exec line and test.

I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thank you again!

No it hasn't been resolved. Are you having the same problems. The GTK version works well with the kservicemenus, but something has changed in the QT version.

 Command line parameters

by Sparrowmelody on: Oct 24 2011

Score 50%

It seems that for some time, peazip has been ignoring command-line parameters, breaking the servicemenu entries. For example, running with -ext2here opens peazip as if launched without parameters.

Right now using the GTK version under Ubuntu 11.10 (KDE4 env), but I have been experiencing this issue for some months (sorry for not notifying earlier).

Can you look into this issue?

Drag and drop support would make this app so great. Why there isn't a good KDE archive manager with drag'n'drop support, that's all I ask.

 RPM for QT x86_64

by aderocha on: Dec 27 2013

Score 50%

Hi,
tool seems very promissing but I only found 32 bits RPM for QT. Since I have a x86_64 installer asks to install a bunch of 32 bits packages and I don't want to do that.

Where can I find QT variant RPM for 64 bits platforms ?

Thanks.
