Any reasons why this is not in gnome, it's clearly obvious that this is an improvement....

dilomo

Good Job man! Only if it was integrated in next gnome ...

lviggiani

Hi, I could install it successfully on Hardy. However, after few days, an update from ubuntu come (2.12.9-4ubuntu3). The problem is that yours is 2.12.9-3ubuntu5 and gdebi doesn't allow me to re install it. How can I do? Thanks

JohnnyJu

good question, i am trying to figure this out aswell...

lviggiani

Hi, in the end I could re install it. By terminal, use dpkg with --force-downgrade oprion "sudo dpkg --force-downgrade -i yourPackage.deb" I hope it will help.

dasGewitter

I downloaded the Gutsy Deb, and it says that libc6 dependency is not met. However, when checking my packages, it is installed, but I don't have a package called gtk2-dev.

walmis

argh.. it was built on 2.6.24 kernel in gutsy, hence the libc dependency. Try building it from source then

Thanks for this patch!

You can do something for use the pixmap engine for the entire panel? So it would be posible make themes for the panel independent of the panel size. It would be nice. Saludos.

Thank you very much. Have you tried to contact the Gnome people thinking of an official commit? Whatsoever, an official SVN (alike) repository would help this virus to reach most official distros! Once again... thank you \m/

who

This looks cool, have you sent the patch upstream? If you haven't already (I couldn't see that anyone had...) open a bug in bugzilla (bugzilla.gnome.org) and attach the patch :)

auntaunt

This is awesome! Works flawlessly! Thanx a ton mate! Rated gud!

themer

OK, I tried it (32 bit deb - force architecture method) and it seems to have worked, however it seems to have really wrecked a lot of themes... any ideas!?

themer

I just noticed I also had "broken packages" and in fixing them it seems to have disabled this... maybe it's not worth it...

TheRob

believe me! it's worth it! :D do whatever it takes! get it working! you will thank yourself later :) //Robert PS. I compiled the source with no problem :)

Newmooon

Is this patch provided on the Ubuntu standard packages or have I to add this link on my thmes download-page ??

pt3

would it be possible to get this into the official repos.

themer

I'll try out as soon as Hardy (final) is released! I grabbed the sources and the package, not sure if --force-architecture will work for this... do you happen to know? (before I try it and blow up the comp :P)

brainkillah

This is great work, thank you!

I tried to install it, and it kept asking for dependancies, and dependancies for those dependancies, and so on, until something happened and some file got screwed, because nothing that was gtk would open (it was a libg...something, I don't remember the name). Is there an easier way to do it? --> No, just install each package and xxxxx-dev packages as asked. Welcome to linux funny compliers world ! I suggest you to also install "colorgcc" and "colormake" Use is the same as gcc/g++ and make, but it will output colored text. Use "colormake" and "colormake install", try this ^^ You need the gtk2 development packages installed as well probably names like glib2-devel, atk-devel, pango-devel, and gtk2-devel or whatever they're called on ubuntu. --> Yep. I don't know all the names... they are usually named by the suffix "-dev" on Debian/Ubuntu.

Katie

Thanks for your advises. The name of ubuntu package needed to compile this is "python-gtk2-dev". Just get it from repo. BTW I downloaded the .deb file for Gutsy and I got an error the time I tried to install it. The error is "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libc6". I wonder why cause I have this "libc6" already installed in my machine and there should be no problem.

zethriller

Just install the package "automake". Under Ubuntu Gutsy it is version '1:1.10+nogfdl-1' Btw, this looks great ^^
