Description:

Boomaga (BOOklet MAnager) is a virtual printer for viewing a document before printing it out using the physical printer.

The program is very simple to work with. Running any program, click “print” and select “Boomaga” to see in several seconds (CUPS takes some time to respond) the Boomaga window open. If you print out one more document, it gets added to the previous one, and you can also print them out as one.

Regardless of whether your printer supports duplex printing or not, you would be able to easily print on both sides of the sheet. If your printer does not support duplex printing, point this out in the settings, and Booklet would ask you to turn over the pages half way through printing your document.

The program can also help you get your documents prepared a bit before printing. At this stage Boomaga makes it possible to:

* Paste several documents together.
* Print several pages on one sheet.
* 1, 2, 4, 8 pages per sheet
* Booklet. Folding the sheets in two, you’ll get a book.

Changelog:

Version 0.6.0
* You can save and then load your piece of work.
* Added desktop file and MIME associations for saved project files.
* Added dag-and-drop support.
* Added two layouts for the vertical placement of pages.
* Added support for landscape documents.
* You can rotate the entire job, or page individually.
* Fixed wrong icon drawing for some icons themes.
* You can split long document on booklets, manual or automatically.
* Updated translations.
* Many fixes.

Version 0.5.0

* You can export jobs as PDF.
* Updated translations
* Some minor fixes

Version 0.4.0

* You can delete pages, and undo this deletion.
* You can insert blank pages
* You can rename job
* New Icons for the program (thanks Famo)
* Qt5 support
* Instead poppler-qt boomaga use poppler-cpp
* Updated translations
* And lots of other minor fixes

Version 0.3.0
* Dramatically improved performance.
* Now the program uses PDF as an internal format.
* Many bugfixes

 A feature propose - number of page

 by dglent on: Feb 7 2013

Score 50%

I would like to propose a feature which i saw on Windows XP printing and i would like to have it on Linux.
Simply the option to add at the bottom right of every page the indication eg: "Page 1 of 5"

This is useful because now with cups, when i print a document with many pages, if after the pages are mixed up , it is not easy in all cases to put them back in order.

Thanks for this program - it does exactly what I needed! :)
Would it be a a lot of work to add the ability to add blank pages between two documents?
Right now I simply print an empty page from LibreOffice to achieve this :)

Sorry for silence.
I planned to add some simple edit functions - add and remove the page, page header/footer, cropping, and so on.

But some later, now I'm testing new version of the program, based on PDF instead PS. This allowed to dramatically speed up the program.

This is really a fantastic program. Very useful already.
I'm eager to try the new version that will allow to add and remove pages. This will be awesome and perfect :-)
Thank you very much for your work.

By the way the couple of virtual printers boomaga and cups-pdf are very useful for me. I can format the print in boomaga, and create a beautiful PDF with cups-pdf.

 Will this work on Windows as well ?

Help me out ... I'm confused.

1) This is built is Qt, so It'll work on MAC and WIN, am i right ?
2) You are using CUPS API, which is only for unix-like systems !

Thanks for the help :)

The boomaga based on CUPS, Windows has your own print system, so boomaga won't work on Windows. I'm not interested to port the program on Windows.

Apple use CUPS for printing, but boomaga use DBUS for communicating with backend and frontend. Since MacOS does not have a DBUS, the program will not work on MacOS just now. But, I plan to write port for MacOS in the future.
