How about adding pdf and html support to BooKreader?
Installed normaly, but can`t start :)
Спасибо
Всегда пожалуйста :)
First up, I like what you are developing with BooKreader, well done :) One thing though, how do you make BooKreader 0.2 display books correctly in English? I have tried opening my .lit books with EVERY encoding option, and all I get is gibberish? This happens even on utf-8 encoding. Can someone suggest a fix. I'm using Slackware12. Cheers Orbit
Hi Orbit. Thanks for your good words. Google and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Reader say that .lit format is a proprietary Microsoft DRM-protected format for their MS Reader. Unfortunately, BooKreader 0.2 doesn't support this format. Probably it will in further versions. I suppose you'd better convert your .lit books into plain-text files using .lib->txt converters you may find. Thanks.
Well, there is another nice set of apps http://st-reader.narod.ru/index.html
Thanks, already there :)
Here's the web page for rudenko bookreader. http://www.rudenko.com/ebook.html You can run it with wine also.
Dear Atlanter, I thank you for ebook reader. It's a good and much required application for Unix/Linux. Many thanks for creating and maintaining. Have you seen Rudenko Bookreader, which is also very very nice bookreader, but it is a Windows Only App. Please consider Rudenko Bookreader interface for betterment your bookreader. I like your bookreader, and I have a few feature requests for your consideration: <p> 1. Single Page Layout also (in options): Reason is to have single view, because two panels/pages distract while reading. 2. Page Background, Text foreground color selections in options. 3. Color Themes: predefined color schemes which are comfortable and soothing for the eyes. You know that heavy reading could tire the eyes very much. 4. Unicode (utf-8) encoding as default: utf-8 as default because, unicode supports all text encodings. Loading any document will be rendered properly. Let the user change encoding if required in the options. 5. Zoom in, Zoom out </p>
Hi, Thanks for your interest. Regarding your propositions: 1-3: they are planned features as you may see on http://kbookreader/about. 4: you can choose any default encoding you like in the preferences dialog. utf-8 is the greatest encoding but most russian text-books are encoded with cp1251 so choosing it as the default is very comfortably. 5: I suppose you can get the same effect by choosing larger/smaller font size in the preferences dialog. http://www.rudenko.com/ebook.html - thanks, I'll look there.
Didn't someone create a .deb? I don't see it on the download page. If anybody has it (the one that installs in /usr/bin, please), can I have it? dmitriy.volk [at] g m a i l Thanks a lot!
Same problem in kubuntu 7.04 I've got 0.2beta from your site, successfully compiled and install it But I can not find it in Kmenu even after logout :( In what section bookreader will appear?
By default bookreader is installed in /usr/local/bin or/ usr/local/kde/bin. ./configure --prefix=/usr should help
Thx Now it works :)
I packaged this for vector linux http://www.vectorlinux.com/forum2/index.php?topic=3308.msg20796#msg20796
Thank you. Already in downloads.
Could please anyone create Kubuntu package(s)? I'll add them to my downloads. I'm sure many people would appreciate that. Thanks.
I've done a Kubuntu 7.04 package, so if you want, I can send it (but I obviously need your e-mail). And maybe it could be quite funny for you, but despite the fact that I've installed it successfuly, I can't run the booKreader... Not by KDE menu, nor by Konsole. Do you have any idea why?
Thank you! Please, email the package to atlanter at gmail. The problem is that on Kubuntu BooKreader is installed to /usr/local/kde/bin and this path is not in your $PATH. Anyway it should appear in the K menu after logout. Either you can run it directly.
Thank you for your program! I've done Debian package too, and had the same trouble in Kubuntu 7.04 - there is no item in K menu, and program is not in my $PATH. So I created a link to program, and the trouble disappeared :) But I suppose there is another way of solving this problem - maybe if use prefix when configuring, it will be possible to create a complete Kubuntu package, and manual link creation will not be needed?..
Yes, I think it's a good solution. If you want I'll put your package on http://kbookreader.org/download when it's ready. Just email it to atlanter at gmail.com.
Just saw this today...going to download the source and give it a try (Kubuntu 7.04). I've been looking for this kind of software for a while now.
OK, BooKreader moved to http://kbookreader.org finally. I'm working on making normal site with forum, blog, screenshots etc. Hope it will be available soon.
Hi ! I'm quite interested in your app, but the download link and your home page seem to be down. Any idea where I could fine the source ? Thanx !
