Description:
A dark theme that mixes the look and feel of the Ubuntu Ambiance theme and default gnome-shell.

It contains a Gnome-shell theme and a darker version of Ambiance window and GTK3 theme.

To install it, download the file and decompress it. Detailed instructions are contained in the README file.

For gnome-shell's users I have also enclosed a modified version of the ubuntu-mono-dark icon set. Weather's icons are from GNOME set, whereas battery set is a modified version of Humanity-Dark icon set. This fixes Bug #863663 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/light-themes/+bug/863663). The icon set contains also a modified version of the start-here icon.
Last changelog:

2.3 Changed dash and workspace-thumbnails background opacity - Several change in switcher-list style [gnome-shell]
2.2 Changed Gnome-Calendar style (hoping last time...) - Thicker border in selected item in switcher list [gnome-shell]
2.1 Changed Gnome-Calendar style (again...) [gnome-shell]
2.0 Changed running-indicator background image - Changed some details in Calendar [gnome-shell]
1.9 Changed dash and app-switcher [gnome-shell]

Hi ! Does it work with gnome 3.6 ?

epiparo

For the moment the theme is only tested on Gnome 3.4 (Ubuntu 12.04). When I switch to 12.10, I will check for compatibility with 3.6 (next month, if I have some time...)

Thanks

Hi, your theme is fantastic ;-) but i have a problem, when i select your theme in gnome-tweak-tool -> theme -> gtk+ theme, the buttons and the scrollbar in firefox and other program (not in nautilus) become like windows95, i don't know why. I'm not very expert il linux and sorry for my poor english.

Hi giacomp3, which desktop environment (unity, gnome-fall-back, gnome-shell,etc.) do you use? I use gnome-shell, so the behaviour in other environments is little tested... Tell me more and - when I find a bit of time - I will try to find a fix... Many thanks for the interest and best regards!

Sorry, Gnome-shell, but non in ubuntu standard, i use Ubuntu Gnome Shell Remix

OK, first of all I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a Samsung netbook and, for the moment, I don't have managed to upgrade to quantal (for me this is only an hobby: I am not a professional developer!). However, assuming that the strange bug is not due to incompatibilities with the last version of Gnome, you may try the following: - Try to install another theme and see if cause the same trouble - Open Ubuntu-Tweak, select Optimizations, then Workarounds and finally activate Fix the appearance of themes... - Install Gnome-Tweak-Tools, then install the extension User Themes (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/19/user-themes/). In order to make this extension to work you probably need to use the Taxidriver's fix:

   1. Open a terminal
   2. cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/user-theme@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com
   3. sudo cp schemas/org.gnome.shell.extensions.user-theme.gschema.xml /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
   4. sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
Then install the theme with Gnome-Tweak-Tool - Try to copy the directories of the theme directly in /usr/share/themes Good luck!

Hey look, this theme is very similar at original ambiance, my sugestion is agree of a top of window a BLACK color, the current color is dark grey, with black, the theme will be Awesom!!! PS: Sorry for my bad english, my native language is Spanish! :D

epiparo

Perhaps I haven't well understood. Windows tops are colored with a gradient from dark gray to black and backwards (it is also necessary to better fit with menu). It seems to me more elegant than a flat black color. However if you explain to me better your idea I will evaluate for a future upgrade. By all the ways, thank you very much for the interest!
